Producer Mykah Brews Excellent Afrobeats Fusion

Mykah

Aramide Babalola, known in the music world as Mykah, is a 29-year-old afrobeats producer whose life has been deeply intertwined with music from a young age. Growing up, Aramide was surrounded by a family that showed profound musical talent, with his father serving as the choirmaster of their local church and his brothers sharing a similar passion for creativity.

Aramide’s journey into music production began with a love for music that stemmed from his upbringing. He started by learning the piano and eventually picked up the guitar, honing his skills and expanding his musical repertoire. When he entered the university, his father’s gift of a laptop became the gateway to his venture into music production. Aramide downloaded FL Studio and stepped into a world of beat-making, laying the foundation for his future in music production.

The name Mykah, derived from the Bible, was chosen as his stage name, reflecting his spiritual and personal connection to his craft. Specializing in afrobeats, Mykah has crafted numerous tracks that showcase his unique style and musical prowess. One of his standout works is the song “Eva Longoria,”— a collaboration between Puerto Rican star, Ozuna and Nigeria’s Davido that highlights his ability to blend international sounds with the vibrant rhythms of afrobeats.

Eva Longoria is an Afrobeats, Caribbean genre fusion named after the petite lady that starred in Desperate Housewives. It waxes tales about a beautiful woman and both music artistes bring their top game to the song, with Mykah providing a sonic backdrop.

Ghanaian star, Eugy tapped Mykah to produce his single, Medicine which featured Maleek Berry and LADIPOE. The production is lavished with tropical percussions, reminiscent of 2017 “Alte wave” that sprouted from Abuja and spread across Lagos and London. The featured artistes, in usual afrobeats fashion, sing about love and women, but they do it with uncommon finesse that simply shows how the genre has been able to grab the world’s ears.

Mykah’s creative process is a testament to his dedication and passion for music. His journey into music production professionally began in 2016, marked by a period of growth and exploration of his craft. Moving to Lagos in 2020 proved to be a pivotal moment in his career, as he began to upload his beats on platforms like YouTube and Beatstars, gaining a substantial following and recognition in the industry.

Reflecting on his journey, Mykah acknowledges the challenges he has faced but remains grateful for the opportunities that have come his way. His experience with streaming platforms like Spotify has been positive, emphasising the importance of consistency and quality in his music career.

By the end if 2023, Mykah had ganered over 60 million streams on his discography across streaming platforms, the artist also creates sample packs on wavs.com and producersources.com where he is ranked as top seller.

Looking ahead, Mykah hopes to continue spreading his music to a global audience, bridging the gap between cultures and showcasing the richness of afrobeats to the world. His dedication to his craft and his unwavering passion for music are a testament to his potential to make a lasting impact on the music industry.
